During your tenure as a cemetery manager or director have you ever had a need for funds to build, repair or renovate a particular feature or asset in your cemetery? There have been many times in my 35 years as Executive Director of Rest Haven Memorial Park in Cincinnati when I have been faced with that need but did not have the available funds. In addition, we all realize that financial institutions are very reluctant to loan funds to a cemetery without collateral. The only assets or collateral we have is the cemetery land and its buildings.
For this reason, a few prominent Ohio Cemeterians and I have developed the Ohio Cemetery Foundation. This Foundation is a mechanism to provide funds and consulting when needed by any Ohio cemetery to build, repair or renovate a particular feature or asset in the cemetery. A professional fundraising corporation, will be partnered with that cemetery for the purpose of gathering needed dollars. In addition to the improvements and enhancements that an Ohio cemetery will experience, a fundraising campaign would help educate, market, increase sales and gain support from the local community.
