Ohio Cemetery Foundation Fund Campaign
With a goal of $3 million, the Campaign for the Ohio Cemetery Foundation Fund will make possible an unmatched resource dedicated to restoring and preserving sacred places throughout Ohio for generations to come.
The Campaign for the Ohio Cemetery Foundation Fund offers donors a unique opportunity to be a founding partner in the vital mission of making sure Ohio’s ancestors and heroes receive the honor and perpetual care they deserve.
There is no greater calling than to be the keeper of the memories of so many. As General John Logan said in 1868 about protecting and preserving our cemeteries, “Let no wanton foot tread rudely on such hallowed grounds... Let no vandalism or avarice or neglect, no ravages of time testify to the present or to the coming generations that we have forgotten...”
While the general’s comments marked the inception of Memorial Day, their truth speaks to every day of the year and to all cemeteries. Today, however, we face an imminent challenge. Many cemeteries in Ohio are in urgent need of care, yet they lack the resources enabling that care.
With your help, the Ohio Cemetery Foundation will remedy that urgent need by providing cemeteries throughout the state with planning, guidance, and seed money for restoration and preservation projects.

The Campaign offers a variety of donation opportunities for individuals, families, foundations, businesses, public agencies, and civic groups. As the Ohio Cemetery Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, all donations are tax deductible, and may take the form of cash, securities, tangible personal property, real estate, bequests, and other types of planned gifts.
Cemeteries teach us that we are part of something much greater than ourselves. As this is the inaugural campaign for a sustainable effort to preserve cemeteries, your generous donation will save not just one, but many cemeteries throughout Ohio.
Your gift will also provide future generations with a living cultural legacy, and will be acknowledged as the seed from which an important restoration and preservation movement grew.
There is no better way to honor those who came before us or those yet to come. As Thomas Campbell said, “To live in hearts we leave behind / Is not to die.”
